Rachel Davis

Rachel Davis has worked in education for more than 20 years. She currently works as an independent learning specialist with individual elementary, middle, and high school students with a diagnosed or suspected learning difference.

Davis began her career in Charlottesville, Virginia, in insurance mergers and acquisitions at SNL Financial (New Mountain Capital), a leading provider of financial, business and market data, news, and analytics for financial institutions across multiple sectors. When given the opportunity to trade in her cubicle for a classroom, Davis made the move to teaching as a middle school language arts and social studies teacher in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She relocated to Delaware and served as a founding faculty member at St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Middletown. There, she crafted middle school language arts curricula and taught fifth, sixth, and eighth grades before returning to Florida. Davis taught fourth grade at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg for five years. She currently serves at Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) Vice President at Northeast High School in St. Petersburg. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and French from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania, and is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy and the Wilson Reading Systems. She and her husband reside in St. Petersburg with her three sons, who attend Pinellas County public schools.
